Rate alerts

Not worth breaking yet? That answer has a shelf life.

Rates move, and your penalty shrinks as your term runs down. A scenario that doesn’t work today can work in eight months, and almost nobody remembers to go back and check.

Alerts are paused right now. Our lender spreads haven’t been confirmed against a live broker quote recently, and we won’t email you a savings figure we can’t stand behind. You can still save a scenario — it will be watched, and alerts resume once the rates are calibrated again. See where our rates come from.

How it works

You run a scenario, set the saving that would make it worth your effort, and give us an email address. Each morning we re-run your saved scenario against current rates. If it reaches your number, you get one email.

If it never reaches it, you never hear from us. There’s no monthly newsletter, no “rates are moving!” nudge, and no drip sequence. One threshold, one email.

You set the threshold, not us

Breaking a mortgage involves legal fees, paperwork and a few weeks of admin. A $900 saving isn’t worth that to most people; a $19,000 one probably is. Where that line sits is a judgment about your time, not a calculation, so you make it.

What we store

Your mortgage figures go in one table and your email address in another, joined only by an identifier. The scenario can be recalculated every morning without anything touching your contact details. We never ask for your SIN, account number, address or date of birth.

We also record the exact wording you agreed to and when — not as box-ticking, but because you’re entitled to know what you signed up for, and we should be able to show it.

Stopping

Every email carries an unsubscribe link that works in one click, with no login and no questions. Your email client will offer its own unsubscribe button too. If you’d like the saved scenario deleted as well, ask us and it’s gone.

When we won’t send

If our rate information goes stale, alerts stop rather than going out on numbers we can’t defend. Specifically: if nobody has confirmed our lender spreads against a real broker quote in 45 days, the whole system goes quiet until they have. Silence is the safer failure.
